Fielding Graduate University, which is accredited by the Accrediting Commission for Senior Colleges and Universities of the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC), was founded in 1974 by higher education administrators and educators. The university is situated in Santa Barbara, California, and consists of three schools, including the School of Psychology, the School of Leadership and Change, and the School of Human and Organization Development. Each of these schools offer superb doctorate programs in the specific fields of study, and are dedicated toward developing strong and influential individuals who will make a difference after graduating from the university.

The School of Psychology offers various degree programs including a PhD program in Clinical Psychology as well as one in Media Psychology. The Fielding Clinical Psychology Program is intended for students who wish to become scholar-practitioner psychologists who are capable of integrating theory, research, and practice and who want to see the field of psychology advance as much as possible. This particular program is accredited by the American Psychological Association.

The School of Leadership and Change at Fielding University offers a few programs, including the EdD Educational Leadership and Change program. The objective of all of the programs in this school is to foster leadership and change among the students, in order to promote much growth in educational organizations after the students graduate. One of the advantages of this doctoral program is that teachers, community advocates, and educational administrators can pursue new leadership skills while continuing their present work.

The School of Human and Organization Development is designed for mid-career students who are interested in advancing their careers as well as expanding their knowledge and skills. The school has a number of programs including the PhD in Human Development program and the PhD in Human and Organizational Systems program. Throughout these programs, students interact with faculty and fellow students, conduct research, and participate in an online learning community.
