Online Doctor of Nursing (DNP)

The Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree is one of several doctorate level degrees in nursing. The other doctorates include the Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Nursing and the Doctor of Nursing Science (DNSc, DNS, DSN). The latter degrees are more research oriented whereas the DNP degree is focused more on clinical and practical aspects. The curriculum for DNP degree programs generally include advanced practice, leadership, and the application of clinical research related to nursing. The Doctor of Nursing Practice degree is intended for registered nurses (RN) who wish to become advance practice nurses. Roles of such nurses typically include nurse practitioner (NP), certified registered nurse anesthetist (CRNA), certified nurse midwife (CNM), and clinical nurse specialist (CNS).
