The Doctor of Education (EdD or DEd) degree is a doctorate degree that prepares individuals for academic, administrative, clinical, and research positions in education. Just like other doctorates, the EdD degree is a terminal degree and an academic degree of the highest level that is recognized by the National Science Foundation (NSF) as equivalent to the PhD.
